Senate News

Senators have studied and passed two pieces of legislation to support Canadians during the COVID-19 pandemic. The March 25 and April 11 sittings also saw senators resolve into committees of the whole to ask key questions of three federal cabinet ministers and Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Theresa Tam. Senators also struck two committees to scrutinize how the government will make use of its newly legislated powers and the government’s response to the pandemic, and they created the Special Senate Committee on the Lessons Learned from the COVID-19 Pandemic and Future Preparedness.
